Gvozdyk may fight American Dirrell

39-year-old American is a former interim IBF world champion

Former World Light Heavyweight Champion Alexander Gvozdyk (19-1, 15 KOs) can fight against the American Andre Dirrella (29-3, 19 KOs).

If the deal is successful, the meeting will take place on September 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (USA) on the undercard of the fight between the undisputed world middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and the undisputed light middleweight champion Jermell Charlo.

The 39-year-old American is the bronze medalist of the 2004 Olympics in Athens, the former interim IBF world champion. In his last fight, Dirrell defeated Gvozdyk’s former rival, Unieski Gonzalez.

Earlier it was reported that Gvozdyk could hold against the Briton Joshua Buatsi – the first number in the WBA rating. The Ukrainian himself stated that his next goal is a rematch with Artur Beterbiev. In October 2019, Gvozdyk lost to Beterbiev in a unification bout for the IBF and WBC light heavyweight belts.

Gvozdyk had his last fight in May. The Ukrainian in the 6th round knocked out the Latvian boxer Richards Bolotniks, having obtained the second victory after the resumption of his career.
