WBC revokes order for mandatory belt fight between Wilder and Ruiz

The council will make a new decision during the congress in Uzbekistan in November

Council of Leaders WBC canceled his order of a fight-eliminator for the title of mandatory contender for the title between Deontay Wilder And Andy Ruiz.

The Council will assess the new situation in the division. The decision on the mandatory contender for the belt, owned by Britain’s Tyson Fury, is expected to be made at the annual convention in November in Uzbekistan.

Wilder and Ruiz had previously confirmed their willingness to host an eliminator, but were unable to close a deal. Deontay believes that Andres Ruiz, Andy’s father, is the reason for the delay in signing the contract. According to Wilder, Ruiz’s father makes all the decisions instead of the boxer and should get out of the negotiation process.

Deontay is also in talks with Anthony Joshua. The fight is expected to take place in early 2024.

In his last fight, Ruiz defeated Luis Ortiz via unanimous decision. At the same time, Andy knocked down the opponent three times. After the fight, Ruiz challenged Wilder. Deontay defeated Finn Robert Helenius by knockout in the first round in his last fight in October.
