Arum: Lomachenko decided not to fight this year. What they say about his fight with Kambosos is nonsense

Lomachenko is going to take a vacation until the end of the year

Promoter Bob Arum denied rumors that a fight between the ex-world champion in three weight categories could take place in the near future Vasily Lomachenko and Australian George Kambosos.

According to the 91-year-old promoter, this information is not true. The Ukrainian boxer’s manager, Egis Klimas, told him that Lomachenko was going to take a vacation until the end of 2023.

“I met Egis Klimas before he left for Poland to fight Usyk. We tried to make a fight between Shakur and Loma. And Aegis told us that Loma decided not to fight again this year. So what they say about the fight with Loma and Kambosos is nonsense. Egis didn’t want to mislead us and he told us that Loma wanted to take a vacation for the rest of the year.”

Recall that Kambosos planned to fight at the Mervel Stadium in Melbourne. The Australian previously fought Devin Haney in the 56,000-seat arena, losing his IBF, WBO, WBA Super, WBC Franchise belts.

In his last fight, Kambosos defeated Britain’s Maxi Hughes to win the IBO lightweight title. Also, George became the second number in the IBF ranking, which allows him to fight for the vacant title. Lomachenko is third on the list for this lightweight version.

Vasily in his last fight lost to Devin Haney in a duel for the title of undisputed world lightweight champion.
