The Ukrainian also considers Tyson Fury’s decision to fight Francis Ngannou to be strange
WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Champion Oleksandr Usyk spoke about his plans after the fight with the British heavyweight Daniel Dubois. The Ukrainian also commented on the upcoming fight of the WBC title holder Tyson Fury with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
“This is not the end point. I’m 36, but this is just the beginning. I started boxing at the age of 15. Now this is just the beginning. I understand that I don’t have many years left in boxing and I don’t want to spend a lot of time in boxing. I want to take my kids to school.”
“For me, this Fury fight looks too strange. A guy who is the WBC heavyweight champion, instead of fighting a top 10 guy, suddenly picks a UFC guy. For Ngannou, this is cool. But for Tyson Fury, this is not the case. Your perception and mine are different. You treat it like a show, I treat it like an athlete. If he chooses that path, fine, I respect his choice.”
Usyk will defend his titles against WBA mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois. The fight will take place on August 26 in Wroclaw, Poland, at the 40,000-seat Tarczynski Arena. The championship fight will be shown by the MEGOGO media service.
On the undercard of the Usyk-Dubois fight, WBO International lightweight champion Denis Berinchyk, Dmitry Mitrofanov, Yaroslav Khartsyz, Vasily Chebotar, Fedor Cherkashin, Daniel Lapin and others will enter the ring.
