The Swedish boxer considers the Ukrainian the favorite of the fight
Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin believes that the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk is the favorite in the fight with the British Daniel Dubois.
“I think it’s a good fight. It’s great that Usyk will fight in Poland, next to Ukraine. He will probably be pleased if there are many Ukrainians there who want to see him. He had to spend all his fights abroad, in different countries, but now he has to fight practically in his backyard. I’m sure that’s a big motivation for him.”
“I think Dubois is certainly an underdog. But he’s a big guy, a big heavyweight and a big puncher. So he always has a puncher chance to win the fight. But I think Usyk is the best fighter and he looked great against Joshua.”
“You also have to remember that he didn’t look that good against Chisora and Witherspoon, it was his first heavyweight fight. So we’ll have to wait and see how he looks in this fight. But the favorite, of course, will be Usyk.
“Actually, Usyk is a guy who fights anyone, and I like that about him. I think he will take any fight as long as it makes sense and he gets paid enough. Moreover, he could not go to the duel with Fury, so he will have to fight with someone. I think it’s probably a good fight for him now.”
The battle between Usyk and Dubois will take place on August 26 in Wroclaw, Poland, at the 40,000-seat Tarczynski Arena. The championship fight will be shown by the MEGOGO media service.
On the undercard of the Usyk-Dubois fight, WBO International lightweight champion Denis Berinchyk, Dmitry Mitrofanov, Yaroslav Khartsyz, Vasily Chebotar, Fedor Cherkashin, Daniel Lapin and others will enter the ring.
