Warren: Dubois shouldn’t act like Joshua against Usyk

The promoter noted the impeccable track record of the Ukrainian champion

Promoter Frank Warren said that the British Daniel Dubois should not repeat the mistakes of former world champion Anthony Joshua in a fight with the holder of the WBO / WBA / IBF / IBO titles Oleksandr Usyk.

“Dubois has to control the fight early on. He can’t do what Joshua did, which is show too much respect to be interrupted and outboxed by a smaller guy. He needs to move on. As soon as the gong sounds, he must use all his physical qualities against Usyk.

“Usyk is a smart guy. Look, he has an impeccable track record as a professional and amateur boxer. He is probably the most skilled fighter Daniel has ever stepped into the ring with. But if you want to win a world title, you can’t choose who to fight. Only with those who hold the belts.

Warren previously said that he considers Dubois the favorite in the upcoming fight with Usyk. The promoter believes that the Briton will be able to use his size to achieve victory.

Usyk will defend his titles against WBA mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois. The fight will take place on August 26 in Wroclaw, Poland, at the 40,000-seat Tarczynski Arena. The championship fight will be shown by the MEGOGO media service.

On the undercard of the Usyk-Dubois fight, WBO International lightweight champion Denis Berinchyk, Dmitry Mitrofanov, Yaroslav Khartsyz, Vasily Chebotar, Fedor Cherkashin, Daniel Lapin and others will enter the ring.
