Russian sambists won 32 medals at the World Sambo Cup held in Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyzstan).
Russian athletes, who participated in the tournament under the banner of the international federation, won 15 gold, 10 silver and 7 bronze medals and finished the competition at the top of the rankings. Then come the teams from Kazakhstan (16 awards, including five gold) and Uzbekistan (18; 3 gold).
On the last day of the competition, Fedor Durymanov (up to 64 kg), Renas Zainutdinov (up to 71 kg) and Abdulkhalim Dzhavatkhanov (up to 98 kg) won gold in men’s combat sambo. Among women in sports sambo, Tatyana Fedorova (up to 50 kg), Angelina Korobkina (up to 54 kg), Alena Alyokhina (up to 59 kg), Ekaterina Doroshenko (up to 65 kg), Taisiya Kireeva ( up to 72 kg) and Elena Allenova (up to 80 kg).
The tournament was held under the auspices of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS).
