Joshua: After defeating Usyk, I will receive my recognition

The rematch will take place on August 20 in Saudi Jeddah

Former World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua emphasized the importance of his upcoming second fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

The 32-year-old Englishman, if he wins, will become a three-time world champion and, as the boxer himself expects, will gain a foothold as a legend.

“It seems to me that when I win the fight with Usyk, I will receive my well-deserved recognition. And admiration for the status of a true boxing legend. I fought for the heavyweight championship in my 16th fight – it seemed to me that this was always underestimated, ”explained Joshua.

“This is my 12th championship fight in a row. Sometimes it seems to me that when we sell out stadiums and gain popularity, for me it does not matter so much. I just want to get my respect in the division.”

“I’m more comfortable knowing that I’ve already been in the ring [с Усиком], but he can hold a completely different fight. I definitely felt how my approach to training changed, because I knew where I was missing something and where my weak points were.

“I have a third chance to become world champion. I don’t expect it to be easy. I will correct my weaknesses and do everything to become a champion again. I think it’s doable.”

In the September fight with Usyk, Joshua suffered the second defeat in his professional career and lost the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO championship titles to the Ukrainian.

Their return match will take place on August 20 in Saudi Arabia. The live broadcast of the fight will be organized by the DAZN streaming service.
