Finnish boxer tests positive for doping ahead of fight with Joshua
Finnish heavyweight Robert Helenius commented on the information that he passed positive doping test before the fight with former world champion Anthony Joshua.
“I want to be very clear right now in my own words, without any exceptions. I have not used drugs now or ever. I have been tested throughout my career.
I was told that my test came back positive for the presence of a non-steroidal substance in my body. I want to send an urgent direct message to Anthony Joshua and the boxing fans that I have never cheated and never will. I am voluntarily partnering with VADA and BBBofC and will do my best to clear my name,” Helenius wrote on Instagram.
Joshua knocked out Robert in the seventh round. Recall that the Finnish boxer was urgently invited to fight instead of Dillian Whyte, who had also previously failed a doping test.
Helenius suffered his fifth career loss and his second in a year. Last fall, the Finn lost by knockout to Deontay Wilder in the first round.
