The Briton in the fifth round hit below the belt, after which Usyk was on the canvas
british superheavyweight Daniel Dubois believes that he did not violate the rules in the fight with the WBA / WBO / IBO / IBF world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and legally knocked down the Ukrainian in the fifth round.
“I don’t think it was a low blow. I believe it happened legally. I was deceived, deprived of victory, what else can I say?
“I was deceived. Today it was a victory, but you know what? I’ll have to come again.”
In the fifth round, Usyk was on the floor after Dubois hit the Ukrainian below the belt. The referee gave Alexander time to recover, after which the fight continued.
At the end of the eighth round, Usyk knocked down Dubois, but the Briton managed to get up and continue the fight. And in the ninth round, the Ukrainian knocked out the Briton after another accurate blow.
For the Ukrainian undefeated boxer, this victory was the 21st in the professional ring, the 14th time Usyk ended the fight ahead of schedule. Dubois suffered the second defeat of his career.
