British boxer – about the resonant blow in the fifth round of the fight with Usyk
British heavyweight Daniel Dubois commented on the resonant situation from the recent fight with the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usykwhich ended in favor of the Ukrainian.
“I respect this man. A great Champion who gave me a tough fight and who I will learn from. But the only low blow last night was the one I got when I didn’t raise my hand after I landed that blow,” the Briton said.
Recall that in the fifth round, the Briton struck a Ukrainian in the inguinal region. Usyk fell to the canvas, the referee recorded a low blow, giving the Ukrainian time to recover.
According to Dubois’s team, the shot was clean. Daniel himself believes that he was deprived of a legitimate victory and demands revenge.
Usyk won by technical knockout in the ninth round, having recorded his 21st victory in the professional ring and the 14th ahead of schedule.
The British team said that it would protest the result of the fight, relying on the referee’s mistake in the fifth round of the Usyk-Dubois fight.
