Klimas: Usyk is going to fight Fury next

In the event of a breakdown in negotiations, Alexander’s rival will be Filip Hrgovic

Egis KlimasWBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion manager Oleksandr Usykspoke about the plans of the Ukrainian and his possible next opponent.

“Hrgovic is a mandatory contender for Usyk. We’re going to have a unification fight with Fury. If the fight fails, then Hrgovic, of course, will become Usyk’s next opponent.”

Recall that the unification fight between Usyk and Fury was scheduled for April 2023, but it did not take place. According to the “Gypsy King”, this happened due to the financial requirements of the Ukrainian.

Previously Usyk signed a contract with Skill Challenge Entertainment from Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian believes that this cooperation will help organize the fight with Fury. A new potential date for the face-to-face meeting between Tyson and Alexander is January 27, 2024.

Fury’s next fight will be against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. The fight is scheduled for October 28 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

Hrgovic’s promoter Eddie Hearn said the Croat would push for a mandatory IBF title defense. The Croatian is the official contender for the belt owned by Usyk.

Hrgovic defeated Australian Demsey McKean in his last fight on a boxing evening in London at the O2 Arena. The Croatian retained his status as a mandatory contender for the IBF heavyweight title, which he won last August by defeating Zhang Zhilei.

Usyk defeated Dubois in a fight that took place in Wroclaw, Poland, and defended his titles. The Ukrainian knocked out the Briton after another accurate blow in the ninth round.
