Russian MMA fighter Gadjimurad Amirjanov successfully made his first fight in the ONE Championship league at the ONE Friday Fights 30 tournament in Bangkok.
In a fight against Iranian Mehraban Farhadi, the 27-year-old Dagestani won early in the first round with an anaconda choke. It should be noted that the fight was announced as a confrontation between the basic wrestler (Farhadi) and the basic striker (Amirzhanov – European and Russian champion in Thai boxing, Russian champion in K-1). For his brilliant performance at the start of the card, Amirzhanov received a bonus of $10,000.
Amirzhanov is sure he’s a next level fighter, and that’s what earned him the Basic Field Wrestler title:
– Mehraban is a pretty strong fighter with a good wrestling base, but I’m a fighter of another caliber. I am ready to beat and conquer everyone on the way to my dream: to bring the ONE belt back to my homeland.
The fight was held under MMA rules in the ONE welterweight division (83.9 kg). Amirzhanov switched to mixed martial arts in 2019 – at first he acted as an amateur, and from 2020 he switched to professionals. Amirzhanov now has four wins and no losses, while Farhadi lost for the first time in his professional career.
The next tournament at Lumpini Stadium will take place on September 1. The ONE Fight Night 31 card offers 12 fights under the rules of MMA, Muay Thai and kickboxing. Among others, six athletes from Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will participate.
