Moldovan UFC fighter Sergei Spivak able to defeat the French Cyril Ghana at the UFC in Paris. The ASA heavyweight champion shared this opinion with Yevgeny Goncharov .
The fight between Gan and Spivak will headline the UFC Fight Night show, which takes place on September 2 in Paris. The 28-year-old Moldovan fighter has been playing in the UFC since May 2019 (seven wins and three losses), his streak at Spivak is three fights. The 33-year-old Ghanaian has 11 wins and two losses in MMA. In his last fight in March, the Frenchman lost in the first round to Jon Jones for the UFC heavyweight belt.
“I know Sergei well. I have been following his career for a long time, he is a very talented fighter with a good base in sambo. He has a rather atypical fight for MMA. Fedor Emelianenko had such a struggle at one time. Therefore, I believe that if Spivak manages to implement his game plan – get into a good catch, transfer Gan, then most likely he won’t release Cyril again and concede in the first round. Gan showed that he had big problems with the ground fight. I think Gan will try to impose his work, he will move, work his body with his legs at a distance. In this fight, the odds are 50/50, despite Gan ranking high in the ratings. But I think in this fight Sergey can prove himself by beating Gan in his hometown. It will be a big win and Sergey can do it. I believe Sergey will win – wrestling and sambo will be better than kickboxing in this fight, – Goncharov told .
Gan is ranked second in the UFC heavyweight rankings, Spivak is seventh.
The UFC tournament in Paris will be broadcast live by . The broadcast begins Saturday at 11:45 p.m. Moscow time.
