Fury promoter says Usyk fight still scheduled for early 2024

WBC heavyweight champion promoter Tyson Fury Frank Warren says Britons’ fight with Ukrainian IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO title holders Alexander Ousyk should take place early next year.

Usyk defeated Britain’s Daniel Dubois by technical knockout in the ninth round of the championship fight, which took place on the night of August 26-27, Moscow time, in Wroclaw (Poland). In the fifth round, he found himself on the canvas, after missing a shot to the body, and did not immediately get up. Earlier, Warren, who also represents Dubois, said he planned to appeal for a review of the fight’s result due to the UK team claiming the fight was illegally stopped in the fifth round.

Warren stressed that the call would not affect Fury’s potential fight with Usyk.

Well, not really, because we talked about a fight between Fury and Usyk in early 2024, and that’s still in the plans. The plan was for the winner of Saturday’s fight to fight Tyson early next year. So until then, it won’t happen. You can’t just ignore the situation with Daniel, he was treated unfairly,” Warren Boxingscene quotes.

Usyk, the 2012 Olympic champion and former undisputed heavyweight champion, has 21 victories in the professional ring. Fury has 33 wins and a draw.
