Mauricio Suleiman is confident that the British title challenger broke the rules.
Daniel Dubois’ scandalous strike in Wroclaw, Poland, was nowhere near within the rules. This is what WBC President Mauricio Suleiman said.
The functionary expressed his opinion on the outcome of the fight between the holder of the WBO, IBF and WBA titles and the challenger, noting that the Ukrainian deservedly won.
“In Poland, Oleksandr Usyk, who is the WBO, IBF and WBA world heavyweight champion, defended his titles against Briton Daniel Dubois.
In the fifth round, Dubois hit Usyk with a punch that landed in the waistband of his boxing shorts, an obvious low blow, then Usyk fell to the ring floor.
Unfortunately, only the WBC uses the instant video replay rule, which was not applied in this case,” Suleiman was quoted as saying by wbc_ukraine.
It will be remembered that earlier their position on the strike from Dubois was revealed to the WBA.
