The priority for the team of the Ukrainian world champion remains the duel for the undisputed title with Tyson Fury
Promoter Alexander Krasyuk said that it would be difficult to organize a fight for the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world champion Oleksandr Usyk with IBF mandatory contender Filip Hrgovic.
“God only knows what will happen. I will not tell everything, but I will tell you in which direction we are moving. Everyone wants to see the big fight, the whole world wants it. We want not only to see it, but also to arrange it. The coming week will show us where we are heading. But who can guarantee this? Even when Tyson Fury wanted to split the fee 70/30 and said, “I’m here,” he hesitated to put his signature on the contract.”
“If Tyson Fury avoids the fight again and Hrgovic is the opponent, then we will obey the rules of the IBF and fight the mandatory challenger. Hrgovic is the mandatory contender. But the fight with Hrgovic is difficult if you are a promoter. He doesn’t have a very popular name. We’ll be polite and say that not many people are interested in watching him fight. Therefore, Usyk will be the only force that will promote this fight.”
Earlier it was reported that the teams of Usyk and WBC champion Tyson Fury continue negotiations for a fight for the undisputed title. The potential date for a face-to-face meeting between Tyson and Alexander is January 27, 2024.
Hrgovic’s promoter Eddie Hearn said the Croat would push for a mandatory IBF title defense. Philip congratulated Usyk on his victory over Daniel Dubois, and said that he would soon meet with the Ukrainian.
Usyk defeated Dubois in a fight that took place in Wroclaw, Poland, and defended his titles. The Ukrainian knocked out the Briton after another accurate blow in the ninth round.
