Hearn: Usyk used a small ring and moved more slowly, possibly due to injury

The promoter noted that the Ukrainian won every round of the fight with Daniel Dubois

Promoter Eddie Hearn believes that the holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO titles Oleksandr Usyk went to battle with the British Daniel Duboishaving health problems.

“From the starting gong, Usyk did not look like himself. I think his legs seemed slow, he looked tired. I thought he was old. Was it pressure due to the fact that he fought almost at home? Usyk generally rarely performed at home. Was he injured?

“Why did they use a small ring? When I see a fighter who likes to move using a small ring, it tells me he’s in trouble, doesn’t want to move a lot. This is very unusual for Usyk as he fought Daniel Dubois. I thought he would want a bigger ring. Has he had an injury or surgery? I don’t know. But he still won every round,” said the promoter.

At the end of the eighth round, Usyk knocked down Dubois, but the Briton managed to get up and continue the fight. And in the ninth round, the Ukrainian knocked out the Briton after another accurate blow.

After the fight, Alexander said that he intended to relax and spend time with his family. For his next fight, the Ukrainian challenged WBC champion Tyson Fury. Representatives of Alexander and the Gypsy King are negotiating a duel in early 2024.

Usyk defended his WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO titles for the second time. For the Ukrainian undefeated boxer, this victory was the 21st in the professional ring, the 14th time Usyk ended the fight ahead of schedule. Dubois suffered the second defeat of his career.
