The title fight between the Ukrainian and the Japanese should take place on September 8, but there is no agreement on the fee yet
One of these days, a new round of bidding will take place regarding the fees of the parties in the upcoming fight between the WBA bantamweight title holder Ukrainian Artem Dalakyan and mandatory challenger Seiigo Akuyi from Japan.
Earlier, the WBA determined the Japanese boxer as Dalakyan’s rivals, and also scheduled the title fight for September 8 and gave a month to agree on fees. But the parties have yet to reach an agreement.
The minimum acceptable bid is reportedly $80,000. At the same time, Dalakyan claims 75% of the amount by right of the current belt holder. If the negotiations are successful, Artem will hold his seventh title defense in September.
Artem had his last fight in January 2023, when he defeated Costa Rican David Jimenez (12-1, 9 KOs) and defended the championship belt. The fight went on for all 12 rounds, but the judges gave the victory to the Ukrainian by unanimous decision.
Dalakyan, 36, won the world title in 2018.
