Russian fighter Dmitry Menshikov, who lost to ONE champion Regian Ayersil in the main event of ONE Fight Night 11, will return to the ONE ring in September.
At the ONE Fight Night 14 tournament in Bangkok, representing one of the top Kemerovo Muay Thai schools in the country, Menshikov will fight Sinsamut Klinmee under Muay Thai rules in the ONE Lightweight (77.1 kg) division.
Sinsamute Aquaman, 27 (81-18 in Muay Thai and kickboxing), made a name for himself in 2022, starting his ONE career with back-to-back knockouts of Nicky Holzken and Liam Nolan. His rise in the rankings was halted by two losses to Regian the Immortal Eersel. In July of this year, at the ONE Friday Fights 24 tournament, the situation improved with the victory over Victor Teixeira.
In June, Menshikov (27-2 in kickboxing and muay thai) immediately got a chance to fight in the main event of the night in his first fight. His opponent was ONE Championship kickboxing and Muay Thai champion Regian Ayersil. Known for his punching power, Menshikov was on an 11-game winning streak and was confident victory was his. He said he would be able to fully open up in a duel and show what he was capable of. Dmitry did not hide that his goal is “to take all possible belts. For example, in ONE Championship, I want to become a champion in all disciplines: Muay Thai, kickboxing and MMA. »
However, the Russian lost by knockout and it only took 46 seconds for Ayersil to get the better of the fighter from Prokopyevsk. After beating Menshikov, Ayersil took the win count to 23 over the past seven years and retained the championship belt.
On September 29, Menshikov will have to show the lessons he learned from the previous fight. Encouragingly, the 25-year-old puncher has 19 out of 27 knockout wins in his professional career.
