On October 6, at the ONE Fight Night 15 event, Mansur Malachiev will fight the second fight of the ONE Championship, which will determine the Russian’s place in the race for the title fight.
Former Eagle FC champion Malachiev (11-0), who represents gymnasium Dagestan Infusion Fighters, ranks fifth in the ONE straw flyweight division (up to 56.7kg). He won his ONE debut over Jeremy Miado (12-3) in June 2023 via first-round submission.
Malachiev, 32,’s opponent is Filipino No. 1 Joshua Pasio (19-4). Filipino Pasio first became the ONE strawweight champion in 2018, then he lost and reclaimed the title twice, made three defenses, but in the last fight he lost gold to Jarred Brooks by unanimous decision. Brooks has yet to defend his title.
This fight will be the first for Pasio, 27, after the locker room. Previously, along with Eduard Folayang, he represented the world famous gymnasium Team Lakay, now Lions Nation MMA.
Malachiev remains undefeated in his professional career. The victory over the first number in the division can significantly bring the chances of the athlete from Dagestan closer to a title fight with Jarred Brooks.
