Team Dubois filed an appeal against the result of the fight against Usyk

Britain’s promoter Warren believes a “worst case” rematch is inevitable

Frank WarrenBritish heavyweight promoter Daniel Duboisannounced that he had filed an appeal against the outcome of his ward’s fight against the WBA / WBO / IBF / IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usykwhich ended with a technical knockout in the ninth round.

“Today we filed an appeal. We have completed work on it, and today the WBA will begin the appeal process in accordance with its rules. They will have to consider it. I want them to do the right thing. I think that in the worst case, they will announce a rematch.”

“I believe that the sanctioning bodies will want to sort things out among themselves. There is no reason to delay the rematch, because the last fight was under the rules of the WBA, and everyone agreed to it. If their rules provide for a rematch, then I am sure that it will take place, ”said the promoter.

Recall that in the fifth round of the Usyk-Dubois fight, the Briton struck a Ukrainian in the inguinal region. Oleksandr fell to the canvas, the referee recorded a low blow, giving the Ukrainian time to recover. According to Dubois’s team, the shot was clean. Daniel himself believes that he was deprived of a legitimate victory and demands revenge.

Warren immediately after the fight stated that the British team “will seek the WBA to declare this fight invalid.” According to Usyk’s promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk, this appeal has “zero percent chance”.

Usyk defeated Dubois in a fight that took place in Wroclaw, Poland on August 26, and defended his titles.
