Russian heavyweight Alexander Volkov before the fight at the UFC tournament in Australia against Taya Tuivasy told that he had fought with a professional boxer as part of his training.
Volkov (36 wins, 10 losses) will fight at the UFC 293 tournament on September 9 in Sydney against Australian Tuivasa, 30 (14-5 in MMA). The Russian fighter spent most of his training in Las Vegas, training in several halls. In preparation he was aided by fighters from Samoa, similar in size to Tuivasu.
– I didn’t have any knockdowns in this training, but there were some heavy boxing fights. I came to the gym specifically for pro boxers, a guy had a pro fight and he needed guys my size too, and I was by his side just for boxing. There were no knockdowns, but there were some good hits. He broke my nose there, there were other blows I felt on myself, but I didn’t get any blows before a knockdown,” Volkov told .
