After former ONE champion Alaverdi Ramazanov knocked out Alessandro Sara in the first round of ONE Friday Fight 31, the Russian spoke about his plans for the future in the ONE Championship league.
After two straight losses, Ramazanov won by knockout in the first round, inflicting a powerful elbow to the head of the opponent. Alaverdi admitted to being forced to return to Dagestan for three months to recover.
– After two defeats in a row, I felt very bad and had a lot of health problems. I returned to Dagestan for three months to recuperate, then came to Thailand for a long training. I trained very hard and I was 100% ready,” Ramazanov said in an interview with ONE after the fight.
Ramazanov highly appreciated the level of his opponent. However, he noted that Alessandro lacked experience with the smaller gloves used in the ONE Championship.
— My opponent is the champion of Thailand. He has national belts, but he is a Thai stadium fighter. He had no experience with the small gloves, which is a completely different fight and feel, and in that aspect I had a lot more experience. I know how to fight well with small gloves and defend myself,” Ramazanov said.
Ramazanov originally planned to start the fight cautiously, watch the opponent and start working on the attack from the second round. However, he managed to defeat his opponent in the first round.
– The plan was as follows: the opponent works as a second number, mainly launches into a dull defense and counterattacks. In the first round, my task was to watch him and from the second round to start working, looking for exits for a knockout. But everything happened faster,” Ramazanov said.
Ramazanov believes he can quickly return to the top of the division.
“I think I’ll stay on top for quite a long time. In ONE, everyone knows me, what I’m capable of. And I have a very good list of former rivals – with whom I fought, whom I won, – said Ramazanov.
He makes no secret that his goal – the ONE Championship title – hasn’t changed.
“Obviously I want to fight for the title. I’m here just for that, because the title is everything to me, – said Ramazanov.
