The Croatian heavyweight told how he will defeat the Ukrainian champion.
Philip Hrgovic is confident he can beat Oleksandr Usyk if given the chance to fight. The mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight title spoke about his tactics if the organization allows his fight with the Ukrainian champion.
“I have the best qualities to beat Usyk. I’m fast enough for a heavyweight, I can throw a lot of punches. Against Zhilei, on a bad day, I landed about 800 punches, which is a lot for a heavyweight.
I’m in control of myself, he can’t knock me down. I am a strong puncher and I think I have the stamina to throw a lot of punches.
It is necessary to force Usyk to retreat, to torment him with many blows, that is, to create problems for him. When Daniel Dubois gave freedom, he created all the problems. He is a big hitting guy who throws right and left hooks. All this is not pleasant.
Usyk needs to hit the body, I just hit a lot of body shots. I don’t think tactics or a competent battle plan play a special role here. You just have to go out, back him up and start a war with him, because he doesn’t know how to fight big guys,” Hrgovic said in an interview with iFL TV.
Earlier, Hrgovic called out the condition under which he would allow Usyk to fight Fury.
