The Briton is sure that the Ukrainian will get even less from the duel with Hrgovic or someone else
WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury called the conditions under which he would be ready to fight with the holder of the WBA / WBO / IBF / IBO heavyweight titles Oleksandr Usyk. According to the Briton, the fight will take place if the Ukrainian reduces financial requirements.
“If Usyk is a good boy, he might be an option, but if not, he’ll be just another foreign middleweight who gets left out.”
“I will beat him and I won’t even look for a body shot. I’ll knock him out with a punch to the chin if this fight ever happens.”
“If he’s a good boy and takes a small percentage of the superstar’s money, then he’ll get the fight. If he wants big money. If he wants to sit at the king’s table, he needs to play ball with the owner.
“He can go and fight someone else again just like he did against Dubois. If he fights Hrgovic, he will also get almost nothing, and if he fights Zhang Zhilei, he will get even less.”
Interim WBO Heavyweight Champion Zhang Zhilei (one of Usyk’s potential rivals) believes that Fury deliberately avoids strong opponents and called him “a disgrace to boxing.”
The unification fight between Usyk and Fury was scheduled for April 2023, but it did not take place. According to the Gypsy King, this happened because of the financial requirements of the Ukrainian.
Oleksandr Usyk on August 26 in Wroclaw defeated Daniel Dubois by TKO in the ninth round and challenged Tyson Fury to a fight. Negotiations between the parties are ongoing. The potential date for a face-to-face meeting between Tyson and Alexander is January 27, 2024.
Fury will face former UFC champion Felix Ngannou on October 28 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The WBC granted Tyson a special permit for this fight.
