The promoter said that the parties are committed to a fight, but the contract has not yet been signed
Promoter Eddie Hearn said that negotiations on the fight of ex-world champions Anthony Joshua And Deontay Wilder continue. The parties have not yet decided on the location of the fight.
“We have agreed terms on Joshua-Wilder, but until we get a contract, the fight will not take place. We spoke to Shelley Finkel, Wilder’s manager, and they are ready to take this fight. This doesn’t have to happen just in Saudi Arabia. Now there are other conversations about other countries.”
“There is a movement of managers and owners of boxing venues in Saudi Arabia, and it depends on them what happens. If they don’t make the Joshua-Wilder fight, maybe it will happen somewhere else. This is one of the biggest fights in heavyweight boxing, everyone wants to make it happen. I really wouldn’t be surprised if Joshua ends up fighting Fury.”
At the end of August, Hearn reported that the deal for the Joshua-Wilder fight would be completed in two to three weeks. According to him, the fight could fall through if Saudi Arabia does not provide funds for the event.
Joshua knocked out Robert Helenius in his last fight, which took place on August 12 in London. Deontay’s last opponent was also Helenius – the American won by knockout in the first round.
