Russian-Chechen MMA fighter with a French passport Askhabov and his brother were arrested in Thailand for kidnapping, torture and extortion

Representatives of the “Russian world” decided to free a rich Italian from his valuables

Russian MMA fighters of Chechen origin arrested in Thailand Hussein And Hasan Akhsabov, also holding French passports. They are charged with crimes under three articles: forcible deprivation of liberty; torture; cruel or inhuman treatment degrading human dignity.

The investigation believes that the brothers were indirectly involved in the robbery, combined with many hours of torture, of an Italian living in Phuket, whom the arrested had known for about a year. The crime itself was committed by unnamed citizens of Kazakhstan who managed to leave the country – the brothers’ probable accomplices.

The victim was tied up and tortured for several hours, extracting from him information about valuables (a disk with cryptocurrency accounts). The next morning, resort staff found the Italian citizen still bound and gagged. In total, he was robbed of more than 12 million baht ($340,000).

28-year-old Khuseyn Askhabov won 23 victories as an MMA pro from 2013 to 2019. In 2022 he signed a contract with the UFC. His twin brother Hassan is also a mixed martial artist. Now both could spend several years behind bars.
