The mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight title explained why he is the Ukrainian’s next opponent.
Oleksandr Usyk is set to face Filip Hrgovic in his next match. This was announced by the mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight title.
According to the Croatian boxer, the only thing that can interfere with the fight is the fight for the title of absolute world champion, however, it is not possible to hold it yet.
“I can’t relax on holiday because I know I’m next in line. I think about it every day. Yes, I should get my chance next. Fury has a fight against Ngannou. He’s unavailable, so Usyk has to fight the mandatory challenger , and I will be next in line… I earned this chance a long time ago, I have been waiting for a long time, so I am ready to fight.
I’ve been waiting for two years. I had problems with the appointment of a battle for the status of a mandatory applicant: I waited for it for a year and a half. And now I waited again for more than a year. I have become a mandatory applicant, but I am still waiting. There is no unification fight because Fury has a fight scheduled. As I said, they must follow the rules, and in the next fight, Usyk will have to fight me,” Hrgovic said in an interview on the Boxing Social YouTube channel.
Let’s remember that Hrgovic threatened Usyk earlier.
