On September 17, the boxers will hold the third fight
WBA and IBF world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin shared his opinion about his next opponent Saule “Canelo” Alvarez.
On September 17, Golovkin and Canelo will meet in the ring for the third time. At stake in their fight is the title of undisputed world super middleweight champion, which is now Alvarez.
“Has Canelo improved since our second fight in 2018? I think yes. Before our fights, I said that the winner will have an amazing career and he will go far. And so it happened,” said Golovkin.
“Canelo looks better after our second fight because his opponents pale in comparison to me. Champions are champions, of course. Some champions are better than others.”
In 2017, the first match between Golovkin and Canelo ended in a draw. In the second fight, Alvarez won by split decision.
Golovkin fought his last fight in April, defeating Japan’s Ryota Murata to unify the middleweight titles.
