Ortiz: I would like to take revenge on Lomachenko

The American believes he learned useful lessons from last year’s defeat to the Ukrainian

American boxer Jemaine Ortiz announced his intention to once again enter the ring with the former world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenkoto whom he lost last fall.

“Lomachenko plans his actions wisely and picks up the pace towards the end of each round. I would like to take revenge for this defeat. I definitely learned how to pace myself to finish strong and how important it is to win those championship rounds.”

“I felt like my fight with him was a lot closer than Devin’s [Хейни]. I felt like I landed much cleaner shots in the Loma fight and Devin missed too many shots in their fight. Loma hit me a few times towards the end of our fight, but he never threw a flurry of punches or threw 5-6 punch combinations like he did against Haney. He only hit me one or two times at a time because he was afraid of what I might do in response.”

Let us remind you that in October 2022, Vasily Lomachenko turned out to be stronger than Ortiz in a 12-round confrontation by unanimous decision.

In May 2023, Vasily, in his last fight, lost to Devin Haney in a fight for the title of absolute world lightweight champion.

27-year-old Ortiz will fight Mexican Antonio Moran on the night of September 16.
