The parties have agreed on the financial part of the fight, an official announcement is expected by the end of the week
Former two-division world champion Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KO) will fight the Dominican Edwin De Los Santos (16-1, 14 KOs) in a fight for the vacant WBC lightweight title.
The fight is scheduled for November 16 in Las Vegas. The boxing night is expected to take place at the T-Mobile Arena.
The boxers agreed on the financial part of the title fight. If their teams manage to complete the documents, the fight will be officially announced before the end of the week.
Let us remind you that Stevenson planned to fight for the WBC belt with Frank Martin. It was reported that their representatives reached a deal just hours before the WBC was due to open bidding for the rights to the fight. However, Martin then walked out of the negotiations and refused the fight. Stevenson stated that Frank demanded a 50/50 split of the fight fee.
Devin Haney held the WBC lightweight belt. The organization declared the title vacant after the American decided to fight Regis Prograis in the junior welterweight division.
Shakur defeated Japan’s Shuichiro Yoshino in his lightweight debut. De Los Santos defeated Joseph Adorno by unanimous decision on July 8.
