The parties are optimistic that the fight will be organized in 2024
Negotiations between WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world champion Alexander Usik and WBC belt holder Tyson Fury for the title of absolute heavyweight champion are successful.
The boxing teams continue to talk secretly from the general public. It is reported that the parties remain optimistic that the fight for the undisputed title can be held in 2024 in Saudi Arabia.
In April, Fury planned to hold a unification fight with Usik, but the Ukrainian pulled out of negotiations due to disagreements over the contract. Later, Skill Challenge Entertainment announced plans to organize a boxing evening in Saudi Arabia with two fights between Usyk-Fury and Joshua-Wilder.
Fury will fight former UFC champion Francis Ngannou on October 28 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The WBC granted Tyson special permission for this fight.
Usyk challenged Fury to a fight after successfully defending his WBA/WBO/IBO/IBF titles against Daniel Dubois. The potential date for the unification fight is January 27, 2024. The plans of the Ukrainian champion may be hindered by the IBF, which may nominate Filip Hrgovic as a mandatory challenger.
