According to the father of the “Gypsy King”, his son is at different levels with other top representatives of his division
John Furyfather of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Furybelieves that his son is too good to hold the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO titles Alexander Usika and former world champion Anthony Joshuaeven combined.
“What, together in the ring on the same night? There’s no competition, even the two of them won’t be able to beat Tyson.”
“From what I saw, Tyson would play with them, they’re just not good enough. There are levels in this game, I’ve said this before: they’re down here and Tyson is up here. He will prove it, I’m not just saying this because I’m his father or because he’s a world champion, I’m saying this with facts: he’s too good for them.”
“If I don’t see someone extraordinary, I’ll be the first to let you know, I’ll say, ‘Wait a minute, here’s his enemy, here’s his dance partner.’
Previously, Fury Sr. claimed that his son’s fight with Usik was “a matter of time.”
The unification fight between Usik and Fury was planned for April 2023, but it did not take place. According to the “Gypsy King”, this happened due to the financial demands of the Ukrainian. A new potential date for a face-to-face meeting between Tyson and Alexander was named January 27, 2024.
Well-known promoter Eddie Hearn recently advised Tyson Fury not to refuse to fight such athletes as Usyk and Joshua.
Fury will fight former UFC champion Felix Ngannou on October 28 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The WBC granted Tyson special permission for this fight.
