The board of directors of the International Boxing Association (IBA) has approved Briton Chris Roberts as general secretary and CEO of the organization. reports IBA Press Service.
In June, Roberts was appointed interim secretary general and chief executive of the organization following the departure of Greece’s George Yerolympos. Previously at IBA, Roberts was Director of Development.
“Chris Roberts’ proven leadership skills, unwavering dedication and insightful strategic vision make him uniquely suited to lead our organization. His wisdom, his deep understanding of the sport, coupled with his commitment to the goals of the IBA will inevitably lead the organization to new successes. “I have full confidence in Chris and his ability to serve the IBA well, as well as its boxers and coaches around the world,” said association president Umar Kremlev.
Previously, the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended to the organization’s session to withdraw recognition of the IBA, since the association did not meet the necessary conditions for restoration previously put forward. The decision was approved on June 22 by majority vote.
