The promoter believes that the fight between Usik and Fury can be held in early 2024
Famous promoter Bob Arum confident that it will be possible to organize a fight for the undisputed title between the holder of the WBC heavyweight belt Tyson Fury and world champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO versions Alexander Usik.
“It won’t be difficult. I know Usyk’s people, they are good people. His manager, his promoter are amazing people.”
“Usik himself is an amazing guy. I think he wants this fight. I think this fight will take place, and I hope that it will happen as soon as possible. Probably early next year, but it could happen as early as December.”
“I would like to see Fury fight Usyk. I think that if he beats Usyk, Tyson will take a victory lap, maybe two more fights, and allow the young guys to come forward.”
Earlier, Tyson Fury said that he was not interested in a fight with Usik for the sake of unifying the belts. The Briton said that he wants to receive the largest fee, while the Ukrainian will not be able to sell the fight profitably.
The unification fight between Usik and Fury was planned for April 2023, but it did not take place. According to the “Gypsy King”, this happened due to the financial demands of the Ukrainian.
Fury will next fight with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou on October 28 in Riyadh. Tyson’s representatives are also negotiating a unification fight with Usik, which could take place in early 2024.
