Olympic freestyle wrestling champion, Russian Zaurbek Sidakov who received a cut at the World Championships in Belgrade, told that scars adorn the man and these injuries will not hinder him in the final fight.
On Sunday, Sidakov defeated Azerbaijan Turan Bayramov in the semifinals in the weight category up to 74 kg at the World Championships and won an Olympic license for the Paris Games. In the quarterfinal fight, Serbian Khetag Tsabolov fractured the Russian’s head during a fight, after which he received medical assistance and his head was wrapped in a bandage. Sidakov entered the semifinals without a bandage, but with a stitched eyebrow. However, the semi-final fight also had to be stopped – Sidakov’s head was bandaged again to stop the bleeding.
– There is still one fight left. I will listen and with God’s help everything will work out. I am very happy that I won the Olympic license and did not let the team down in terms of weight. There was a lot of hope for me.
– But your rivals are also seriously targeting you. It was not an easy path for you to reach the final…
— My paths are always difficult, the sweeter the victory. But it’s okay, I coped with everything – the excitement, my task.
— How realistic is it to recover in one day after such a difficult day with several contractions?
– The main thing is to sleep well. Plus, we weigh ourselves in the morning, so we can’t eat much. So, I’m going to bed early. All five contractions today were very difficult and intense.
— In the quarter-finals, your eyebrow was cut. How are you now?
– It doesn’t matter, scars adorn a man. This damage will not bother me in any way in the final. Let’s bandage the head and that’s it, let’s go into battle.
— In the final, your opponent is the American Kyle Dake, around whom there is so much noise…
– Well, let him stir, and we will be calm. Why should we worry? He’s a four-time world champion, an Olympic bronze medalist, that’s all I can say about him.
– Do you already understand how to defeat him?
“We’ll talk to the coaches and decide.” In the meantime, I don’t think about it,” Sidakov told .
The final fight will take place on September 18.
The World Championships in Belgrade will end on September 24. The Russians are participating in the qualifying tournament for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, in neutral status.
