Russian wrestler Sidakov had his head smashed in the quarterfinals of the World Championship

Olympic champion, double world champion in freestyle wrestling Zaurbek Sidakov received a cut on the head during a quarter-final fight with Serbian Hetik Tsabolov at the World Wrestling Championships in Serbia, reports a correspondent on site.

The World Wrestling Championships, qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, began on Saturday in Belgrade. Russian wrestlers participate in the tournament in neutral status.

At the end of the quarterfinal fight in the under 74 kg category, Sidakov received a cut on the head during a fight with Tsabolov. The fight was stopped, the Russian received medical assistance, stopping the bleeding and wrapping his head with a bandage. Sidakov continued the fight and won with a score of 6:4.

In the semi-final, the Russian will meet Azerbaijan’s Turan Bayramov.
