Russian fighter Kirill Sidelnikov told that he was no longer a member of Team Fedor due to a “personal” conflict with Fedor Emelianenko.
Sidelnikov was Fedor Emelianenko’s main sparring partner for many years. Multiple combat sambo world champion, Sidelnikov has 14 victories and seven defeats in MMA. Sidelnikov fought his last mixed martial arts fight in July 2022 at the Ural FC 1 tournament, defeating Brazilian Fabio Maldonado. Before that, the fighter played in leagues such as Bellator, Rizin, Fight Nights, M-1.
— Your last fight was in July 2022. The question is trivial: why are the downtimes so long?
“I tore my meniscus and had it operated on. Then I had certain difficulties, and everything changed. I’m going through changes in my life, and that has a lot to do with it too.
– Can you tell me more?
— I had some disagreements within the team and I am no longer part of the Fedor team. Therefore, I had to think about something and find myself.
— Was there a conflict or misunderstanding?
“I don’t want to go through all this.” Let’s call it a certain life experience. But I am very grateful to Fedor for the years we lived together, for all the instructions, for everything we did. I will repeat these words all my life. And in the future, if my help is needed, I will always help him. Even though I know it will never happen. But what if something happens, I will always help him.
— In general, did you have a conflict with Fedor Emelianenko?
– Well, we can say that there was a certain more personal conflict with Fedor, and we did not find common ground in the future. I repeat, I can only thank Fedor for everything! I have no hard feelings, I can’t say anything bad. Well, that’s how it goes in life, what can I say. This is a new stage in life for me: I left my comfort zone. Figuratively speaking, I left Stary Oskol and was offered another job.
For me, it is both bitter and painful, but it is also a boost for my future. Sport is sport, and then the family needs to be fed with something. And here I see my development,” Sidelnikov told .
Sidelnikov will make his professional boxing debut at the Ural FC 4 tournament, which will be held on October 20 in Perm as part of the forum “Russia is a sports power”, in a fight with a Dutchman of Moroccan origin, Nidal Bikiri ( kickboxing record 13–3).
All Ural FC tournaments are broadcast live on the channel.
