Russian Ekaterina Poleshchuk defeated French representative Tatiana Profatilova in a qualifying bout at the World Wrestling Championships taking place in Belgrade.
Poleshchuk, competing in the weight category up to 55 kg, won with a score of 4:3. In the 1/8 finals, Poleshchuk, bronze medalist at the World Championships, will meet the Ukrainian Maria Vinnik.
Earlier on Monday, reported that United World Wrestling (UWW) management had recommended Russian and Ukrainian athletes not to shake hands at the World Championships.
The Russians are participating in the Belgrade tournament in neutral status.
