President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Poutine congratulated Russian freestyle wrestlers Zaurbek Sidakova and Akhmed Usmanov with gold medals at the World Championships in Belgrade.
Sidakov, competing in the weight category up to 74 kg, defeated American Kyle Dake in the final fight and became a three-time world champion. Usmanov (up to 79 kg) turned out to be stronger than Georgian Vladimir Gamkrelidze in the decisive match.
— Dear Zaurbek Kazbekovich! Congratulations on your victory. Perfected technique, leadership qualities and hard work helped you defeat a powerful opponent in the most difficult final match, deservedly climb to the top step of the podium and become a three-time world champion.
Dear Akhmed Magomedovitch! Congratulations on your triumph in Belgrade. You performed brilliantly at your first world championship, showed great skills and will to win and opened a “golden account” for our team at the current competition. Your family and friends, your coaches and of course many fans are rightly proud of your success,” said the telegrams published on website Kremlin.
The World Championship will end on September 24. Russians are allowed to participate in competitions with neutral status.
