Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler Yaroslav Filchakov left the podium when the other medalists of the World Championship in Serbia in the weight category up to 82 kg, including the Russian Aues Gonibov, were taking a group photo, reported a correspondent on site.
Gonibov defeated Turk Burhan Akbudak in the fight for bronze. In another fight for third place, Filchakov defeated the representative of Moldova, Mikhail Brada.
All four medalists reached the podium, including world champion Rafik Huseynov of Azerbaijan and silver medalist Alireza Mohmadipiani of Iran. When Filchakov was introduced, Gonibov clapped his hands as a sign of respect, which the Ukrainian did not.
After the medal presentation, Huseynov, Mokhmadipiani and Gonibov stood together on one step of the podium to take a photo, and Filchakov stepped off the podium and left the competition part of the arena.
The World Championships in Serbia will end on September 24. The Russians are participating in the tournament in neutral status.
