Russian athletes won five gold medals on the first day of the Sambo World Cup, which is taking place in the Serbian city of Novi Sad.
The winners of the World Cup were Roman Zheltov (weight category over 98 kg), Olga Polygalova (up to 50 kg) and Ekaterina Tsybert (up to 59 kg). In combat sambo, gold was won by Pavel Malkovsky (up to 64 kg) and Hovhannes Abgoryan (up to 79 kg).
Silver medalists in sambo were Sofia Emelyukova (up to 50 kg), Malik Gadzhimuradov (up to 71 kg), Denis Sukhanov (up to 88 kg), in combat sambo – Vitaly Boev (up to 64 kg ) and Alexey Ivanov (up to 79 kg).
The World Cup ends on Sunday.
