In the final fight, world champion Tasoev defeated the silver medalist of the Tokyo Olympics, Georgian Guram Tushishvi.
In the decisive battle for the bronze medal, 2020 Games bronze medalist Tamerlan Bashaev of Russia defeated Georgian Gela Zaalishvili.
Russian Matvey Kanikovsky won the silver medal in the weight category up to 100 kg, losing to Georgian Ilya Sulamanidze in the final. Another representative of Russia, Alice Startseva, lost to Bosnian Larisa Cerich in the fight for the bronze medal in the weight category over 78 kg.
The Russians competed in the capital of Azerbaijan as neutral individual athletes. In total, Russian athletes won three gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
