President of the Russian Judo Federation Sergey Soloveichik said that Russian athletes face the task of earning qualifying points to participate in the Olympic Games in 2024.
The Russians participated in the Grand Slam stage in Baku as neutral individual athletes. In total, Russian athletes won three gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
“I would like to thank our guys and girls for their dedicated work. The best result in these competitions. The Grand Slam is a good tournament that gives ranking points.
We have the task of reaching the Olympic Games in these difficult times. It seems to me that we have managed to resolve the problem so far,” Soloveichik said on the air of the program “Everyone for the match!” on the channel.
At the end of March, the IOC announced recommendations for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions in neutral status. Recommendations include individual admission, banning participation in team sports, and banning participation by athletes associated with law enforcement or who have expressed support for the SVO.
The IOC did not send an invitation to the Russian Olympic Committee for the Summer Games in Paris on the set date of July 26.
