The European Boxing Union has extended the suspension of Russian athletes

EBU President Peter Stucki added that there can be no compromise with aggressors while the war continues

European Boxing Union (EBU) extended the suspension of Russian athletes and officials from international competitions. This was announced by the vice-president of the Professional Boxing League of Ukraine Alina Shaternikova.

“My message to the EBU members was, as always, clear and understandable to everyone who respects the peace and security of the world: no compromises on boxers, coaches, judges from Russia and Belarus. Maintaining the status quo, that is, boxers are excluded from the European rankings, not a single EBU title is played on the territory of aggressor countries, Russian and Belarusian judges licensed by the EBU are not invited to competitions.”

Also, according to Shaternikova, EBU President Peter Stucki added that there can be no compromise on the issue of isolating Russian and Belarusian athletes, as well as functionaries, while the war in Ukraine continues.

Let us remind you that the IOC recommended returning Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes will not be able to compete under the Russian flag or have other national symbols. At the same time, the EBU stated that it does not plan to restore the status of Russians and Belarusians while the war continues.
