UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev said he intends to retain his title in the next fight with Brazilian Charles Oliveira.
The rematch between Makhachev and Oliveira for the UFC lightweight championship will take place on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi and will be the main event of the evening. In October 2022, the Russian defeated the Brazilian by choke in the second round and became champion of the promotion.
— I love my belt, I don’t want to lose it. Maybe someone thinks I’m training less – no, I’m training even more. I know Oliveira will change something, add something – we have to be ready everywhere.
Oliveira has nothing to lose at this point. Maybe he’ll take more risks. But I will be ready,” said the Russian according to UFC Eurasia.
Makhachev has 24 wins and one loss in his MMA career, Oliveira has 34 wins and nine losses.
