The fight will take place on November 16, Formula 1 week.
Former two-division world champion Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs) and Dominican Edwin De Los Santos (16-1, 14 KOs) will fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on November 16. They will compete for the vacant WBC lightweight title.
The big boxing evening will take place during the week of the Formula 1 championship, which will culminate with the race on November 19.
In addition to the fight between Stevenson and De Los Santos, spectators will also be treated to a fight between Mexican Emanuel Navarrete and Brazilian Robson Conceicao. Navarrete will defend the WBO junior lightweight belt.
Let us remember that two weeks ago the sides of Stevenson and De Los Santos agreed on the financial part of the title fight on November 16. The event has now been officially confirmed.
Stevenson previously planned to fight Frank Martin for the WBC belt. It was reported that their representatives struck a deal just hours before the WBC was set to open bidding for the fight. However, Martin then walked out of the negotiations and refused the fight. Stevenson stated that Frank demanded a 50/50 split of the fight fee.
Devin Haney held the WBC lightweight belt. The organization declared the title vacant after the American decided to fight Regis Prograis in the junior welterweight division.
Shakur defeated Japan’s Shuichiro Yoshino in his lightweight debut. De Los Santos defeated Joseph Adorno by unanimous decision on July 8.
