The Ukrainian Boxing Federation has announced a boycott of the European Cup. As reported by the press service of the organization, the team will not go to the tournament, which will be held in Montenegro from October 6 to 15, 2023 in Montenegro.
In the comments Sports The coach of the national team Dmitry Sosnovsky reconfirmed that the team will not compete in tournaments where Russian boxers are represented in any capacity.
“For me personally, the situation is absolutely clear, if the representatives of the aggressor countries perform in the tournament, then we should not compete there. Now this opinion is shared by the Ukrainian Boxing Federation. It does not matter if what is their current status – neutral or under their own flags.”
It’s hard for me to speak for all of Ukraine, this is just my opinion. We saw that some Ukrainian athletes have already competed with Russians, but for me personally this is unacceptable. If we participate in tournaments where Russia competes, we will show the whole world that everything is fine, sport is outside of politics, but this is not the case,” said Sosnovsky.
We remind you that earlier the UAF condemned UEFA’s decision to admit the Russians and boycott the tournaments.
