The “Gypsy King” is confident that if the fight takes place, he will knock out the Ukrainian world champion
WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury once again spoke about a possible unification fight with the world champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Alexander Usik.
“The fans want it, and if there is money, we will do it. Why would I want to fight Usyk for pennies? He has no personality, he’s an ugly bastard with a gap in his teeth, and he’s half my size. It turns out that this is all for his benefit and won’t give me anything, right?” Fury said.
“If I beat Usik, then everyone will say: “Okay, he beat the middleweight.” If he beats me, he will beat the legendary Tyson Fury, and that’s for no money.”
“It’s not just that he was offered a fight at Wembley in April and he didn’t take it and ran away in search of more money. I understand that everyone wants as much money as possible, I do. It’s a money fight, we all want the biggest money, and no matter how much people say it’s about belts or records or legacies, it’s not. It’s about money.”
“If you put Alexander Usyk in a leisure center in Morecambe, he wouldn’t sell tickets… And then I offered him 30% of a big sum, and they said no, they want more. By what merit do you deserve more? I’m a superstar, you’re a nobody… And if the fight does happen, I’ll knock him out without a problem.”
The unification fight between Usik and Fury was planned for April 2023, but it did not take place. According to the “Gypsy King”, this happened due to the financial demands of the Ukrainian.
Usyk challenged Fury again after successfully defending his WBA/WBO/IBO/IBF titles against Daniel Dubois. The potential new date for the unification fight is January 27, 2024.
Fury’s next fight will be against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou. The fight will take place on October 28 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
